The International Care Ministries Children’s Choir began in October 2009, with children from Bacolod City, Philippines. In December 2009, Louise Joachimowski, who is a composer and songwriter, was asked to work with the children during her time in the Philippines. After a few auditions, and evenings of composing, the choir of 14 children started practicing and soon performing. Having all been past participants in ICM’s programs, the children are not professional singers. They are real children who have borne daily struggles of desperate poverty. They are a powerful testament to the charity’s work in hundreds of thousands of lives. This choir represents the efforts of ICM across the Philippines, and tells the story of people moving from poverty to hope.
Since June 2010 the choir has given over fifty outstanding performances in Bacolod, Bohol, Dumaguete, Hong Kong, Washington D.C. and New Jersey.
Short Steps, a documentary featuring the choir, is currently in post production and will premiere later this year.
